Developer Greifenmaer has announced Veil of Ashes, a new real-time strategy title set in a grim, industrial steampunk world. The game, which emphasizes tactical control over diverse maps, pits players against one another or AI opponents in a struggle for strategic points.
Gameplay and Mechanics
In Veil of Ashes, players manage a variety of units ranging from standard infantry squads to massive, specialized war machines. The core gameplay loop involves capturing and holding strategic locations across various maps in both multiplayer and skirmish modes.
A key mechanic is the use of Reinforcement Points. Players earn these points throughout a match, which can then be spent to call in powerful support, tactical strikes, and the game's signature "monstrous" tanks and behemoth units to turn the tide of battle.
Setting the Scene
The game's premise centers on a world altered by a cataclysmic event in 1704. Known as the "inferno," this event introduced "Cinium," a powerful, energy-rich substance that has since become the lifeblood of industry and warfare. Two hundred years later, the world is defined by a grey veil of ash, falling skies, and lifeless deserts, where empires fight to secure the remaining resources needed to power their steam-driven machinery.
Platform Availability
Veil of Ashes is currently slated for PC. The developers have confirmed support for Proton and Wine, making the game accessible for users running Linux and SteamOS. Interested players can follow the developer's official channels for further updates on the game's release and additional preview footage.
