Electronic Arts has released a significant update for The Sims 4, introducing long-requested stability features including automatic saving and memory optimization. The patch (PC version 1.126.58.1030, Mac version 1.126.58.1230, and Console version 2.36) is now live across all platforms.

Autosave and Save Reminders

The headline addition is a robust autosave system. The feature operates in the background, creating save points based on specific triggers like traveling between lots or hitting gameplay milestones. Players can configure these settings to suit their playstyle, including the option to enable persistent "Save Reminders" that prompt players to perform a manual save at chosen intervals.

Performance Improvements

Alongside the save functionality, the update implements "Memory Boost" to address technical stability. This change improves how the game manages memory, specifically targeting reduced lag, higher frame rates, and shorter loading times. EA reports that these improvements should be most noticeable during extended sessions, in large households, or on lots with high object counts. Notably, this update addresses a primary community-reported issue regarding corrupted lots in saves containing Residential Rentals.

New Content and Customization

The update also expands the game's library of content:

  • Cultural Accessories: Eight new accessories—including bangles, turquoise jewelry, and cowrie shell bracelets—have been added, inspired by Caribbean, Indigenous, Latin American, and South Asian cultures. These appear on eight new "Starter Sims" now available in Create a Sim and the Gallery.
  • Music Den Kit: A new kit is available featuring retro-futurist decor, soundproofing panels, and new instruments, including a keyboard, violin, and guitar. Players who purchase the kit before October 22 will receive 200 Moola.
  • Coach Collaboration: The "Coach Repurposed Capsule" returns, adding four new items to the in-game Marketplace for free.

Quality of Life Fixes

The patch includes several UI and technical refinements:

  • Notification Toggles: Following the previous addition of festival notification toggles, players can now disable "Nordhaven Hobby Meetups." Pop-ups related to "Sugary Cravings" and other Businesses & Hobbies expansion content have been removed to reduce notifications.
  • Quick Buy on Console: The Marketplace Quick Buy feature is now available for PlayStation users.
  • Build Mode Fixes: An issue causing roof sections to disappear when viewing upper floors in Build Mode has been resolved.
  • Stove Swatches: The "YumCooker (Used)" stove from the City Living expansion now includes the same grungy swatches previously added to the base game version.
