Studio Reset, a newly formed developer comprised of veterans from BioWare, Hinterland, Timbre Games, and Inflexion Games, has officially unveiled its debut title: The Eventide. The game is a single-player supernatural mystery adventure currently in early development for PC via Steam.

Setting and Premise

Set within a neon-noir Canadian cityscape, The Eventide places players in the role of an unseen guide for the Eventide Agency. This organization operates in the shadows, tasked with monitoring and intervening in paranormal incidents that the general public remains unaware of. The narrative explores the thin boundary between reality and unseen planes, focusing on entities pulled from folklore, spectral apparitions, and mysterious signals hidden within the urban environment.

Gameplay Mechanics: The Parallax Deduction System

At the core of the experience is what Studio Reset calls "Parallax Deduction." Unlike traditional detective games that focus primarily on the physical collection of clues, The Eventide emphasizes the perspective of the investigators assigned to a case.

Players will manage a roster of agents, each possessing unique backgrounds, beliefs, and areas of expertise. When assigned to a case, the combination of the two chosen investigators dictates the player's experience:

  • Scientific Insight: Agents may analyze scenes through the lens of biology or chemistry.
  • Human Understanding: Certain investigators excel at interpreting witness statements and identifying contradictions.
  • Psychic Perception: Some agents can detect emotional or psychic traces invisible to others.

According to producer and creative director Kaelin Lavallee, the goal is to force players to consider not just what a clue is, but what it means through the specific lens of their chosen investigators. "We see the world as we need to; not as it is," Lavallee noted in the reveal press release.

Development and Platform Context

The game is being built using Unreal Engine 5. While the studio has not provided a specific release window, the title is available to wishlist on Steam now. For players tracking the studio's progress, the team—led by Kaelin Lavallee, Kris Schoneberg, and Francis Lacuna—is positioning The Eventide as an original world designed with long-term creative potential.

As of now, the game is strictly confirmed for PC. Given the current development stage, players should expect a focus on mature narrative themes and a blend of fixed-camera exploration with the agency-management deduction system.
