Digital Extremes has pulled back the curtain on Warsong, the next major content update for its fantasy action title Soulframe. The developer showcased a lengthy gameplay trailer during a recent panel, detailing a suite of new features slated to arrive later this year.

Quick Facts

  • Update Name: Warsong
  • New Features: Ridable mounts (wolves and a corrupted horse), 'vegan' fishing, and the Vadagar pact class.
  • Release Window: 'Fallish' 2026.
  • Beta Access: Guaranteed access for those who sign up for the Preludes test before July 12.

The Warsong Fable and the Vadagar Pact

The Warsong update centers on a new quest featuring actor Ben Starr as Tempest Bayor, the primary antagonist. Players will gain insight into the protagonist’s tragic past, the nature of their blue-armed Envoy powers, and a glimpse into the lives of the cloud-dwelling Ode.

Alongside the quest, the update introduces the Vadagar pact. In Soulframe, pacts function as character classes; the developers have described the Vadagar as an “edgelord” addition. It offers players a set of darker abilities and virtues aligned with the Ode’s deities: Wrath, Doom, and Death. During a press preview, the team described the overall tone of the Warsong update as “our Spider-Man 3 for Soulframe.”

Mounts and 'Vegan' Fishing

Addressing a frequently requested feature, the update will finally introduce ridable mounts. At launch, players can traverse the world on giant wolves or a corrupted horse, with Digital Extremes confirming plans to expand the mount roster in future updates.

Perhaps the most unique addition is the new “vegan” fishing mini-game. In keeping with the game’s themes of nature preservation, any fish caught by the player are released back into the water, ensuring no harm comes to the local wildlife.

Beta Status and Future Outlook

While Soulframe continues its journey through closed beta, a firm date for the 1.0 release has not yet been set. However, those eager to test the current build can sign up for the ongoing Preludes. Players who register before July 12 are guaranteed access to the current version and subsequent builds.

For fans currently engaging with the game, the Warsong update is expected to arrive in “Fallish” 2026.
