Digital Extremes is opening the gates for its fantasy action-RPG Soulframe, with a new sign-up window running now through July 12, 2026. Following the buzz from this year’s Tennocon, the developers are inviting more players into the game's ongoing “prelude” phases to experience a host of new content, including the dark, ichor-slathered Vadagar progression path.

The Vadagar Pact and 'Goop' Combat

The Vadagar “Pact” introduces a new way to play by letting Envoys channel the powers of the Ode—the game's space-faring, spell-song enemy faction. While the Ode are typically known for corrupting resources and wildlife, the Vadagar path allows players to harness their abilities. Mechanically, this replaces the standard Virtues with three new core stats: Wrath, Doom, and Death.

The playstyle is defined by the use of “goop,” with abilities that allow players to snare enemies with pillars of slime, summon subterranean conduits, and even call upon goop horses to trample foes. The path also introduces a corrupted whipsword for crowd control. Notably, this is not a permanent alignment; Digital Extremes has clarified that picking the Vadagar path does not lock players out of other pacts.

Mounts, Fishing, and the Warsongs Quest

Beyond the new class, the game is expanding its world with upcoming features:

  • Wolf Mounts: Scheduled for release later this year, these companion creatures are being designed to avoid the spectacle of animal suffering.
  • Vegan Fishing: A new minigame that challenges players to cleanse fish mutated by the Ode, rather than catching them for sport.
  • Warsongs Questline: A new narrative arc involving the origins of the player character, featuring a turncoat Envoy named Tempest Bayor, voiced by Ben Starr. This quest introduces a new boomerang weapon with a timed-button combo system and features a witchy empress voiced by Jennifer English.

Players can also challenge the new Mendicant Reinbreaker boss, whose defeat unlocks a special goop horse mount.

A Methodical Approach to Fantasy

Soulframe continues to lean into a cozy, albeit eerie, aesthetic. The game famously begins with the player slumbering under a pile of birds and bunnies, and the world remains full of critters to rescue from enemy camps. This ecofable-style world serves as a stark contrast to the high-speed, AOE-heavy combat of Warframe. While the game still shares that title's commitment to deep loot systems and grind, the combat is significantly more ponderous and duel-oriented, aimed at players looking for a different pace within the Digital Extremes ecosystem.

With a new weather system and additional supporting features expected before the Warsongs quest arrives, the developer is steadily building out the foundation of the RPG. Those who miss the current open sign-up window can still secure entry by purchasing a Founder’s pack.
