The Dispute Over AI and Development

The situation came to light after writer Stella Sacco posted on social media that she had once served as the game's lead writer before being let go in favor of ChatGPT. Saber Interactive denied the claim that AI wrote the narrative, asserting that the story script was written entirely by real people. However, the publisher acknowledged that generative AI was utilized for certain parts of the game.

Saber CEO Matt Karch elaborated on the studio's stance in a statement sent to This Week in Video Games, confirming that the Steam page for Rideshare Stimulator will be updated to reflect the game's AI features once the feature set is finalized. Karch also stated that Sacco was terminated for other reasons and that the studio views its use of AI in this specific title as a consumer benefit given the game's lower price point.

Sacco responded via Bluesky, standing by her original statements and criticizing the publisher's handling of the disclosure. As of now, Saber Interactive has not announced a specific release date for Rideshare Stimulator on PC.
