Developer Robert Yang has brought Radiator Forever, his ongoing collection of short, experimental games, to Steam. While the project remains available on Itch.io, the move to Valve’s platform brings the realities of modern digital distribution to the forefront for adult game creators.

Quick Facts

  • Developer: Robert Yang
  • Platforms: PC (Steam and Itch.io)
  • Status: Currently hidden from Steam search for most users; geoblocked in some regions.
  • Content Classification: Tagged by Valve as containing "frequent nudity and sexual content."

The Challenge of Steam Compliance

Yang noted that his decision to return to Steam was driven by a shrinking landscape for independent adult game distribution. According to the developer, the "anti-sexuality censorship campaign" in 2025 by payment processors like Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe forced platforms like Itch.io to delist or bury many NSFW titles to maintain payment processing capabilities. Furthermore, UK laws, such as the UK Online Safety Act, have forced platforms to implement strict geoblocking to avoid the costs of compliance.

Despite his efforts to maintain "good faith" compliance, Yang stated that Valve’s content reviewers have essentially shadowbanned the collection. "While I was careful to avoid explicit nudity, compliance-in-advance is never enough to appease a zealous censor, and the Steam content reviewers have decided the game's general 'nature' was just too gay," Yang wrote in a blog post regarding the release.

Platform Double Standards

Yang also pointed to what he sees as a disparity in how content is moderated on the platform. He cited Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur's Gate 3—both of which feature customizable genitals—as examples of a double standard where larger publishers face different scrutiny than independent developers.

For players attempting to access Radiator Forever on Steam, the process is restrictive. Aside from the title being hidden from general search, users must be logged into the platform, and UK-based players must have a valid credit card on file to verify their age. The collection itself features updates to the individual games, including a completion percentage tracker and a new tag system to help users identify new content added to the bundle.
