Co-developers Landfall and Aggro Crab used a wave of fake biomes and codenames to prevent dataminers from leaking the final update for Peak, the 2026 PC co-op phenomenon. The final update drops tomorrow on Steam, bringing new content before the studio shifts its focus to console ports.

Quick Facts

  • Platform: PC (via Steam)
  • Release Date: Tomorrow
  • New Biomes: The Gloom and The Citadel (replacing The Kiln and Caldera)
  • Developer Strategy: Seven fake biomes and codenames ('Wisconsin' and 'Void') were added to mislead dataminers.

How Developers Hid the Final Biomes

While co-developers Landfall and Aggro Crab worked for months to keep the final content secret, they anticipated that dataminers would sift through game files prior to launch. Rather than trying to block them outright, developer Paige Wilson explained that the team decided to have fun with the situation.

In the weeks leading up to the patch, anyone snooping through the files found seven fake biomes mixed in with legitimate options. The decoy list included plausible names like Grasslands and Temple alongside sillier entries such as Skyblock, Hell, Heaven, and Mars. Furthermore, the two actual new biomes were disguised with internal codenames—'Wisconsin' and 'Void'—to ensure that even players who bypassed the fake entries would not easily recognize what was coming.

What Players Need to Know

The real new content consists of The Gloom and The Citadel, which will rotate into the game much like previous biomes, replacing The Kiln and Caldera. Once tomorrow's update goes live on PC, the developers will turn their attention toward sorting out console ports for the co-op hit.
