Following the weekend launch of Path of Exile: Curse of the Allflame, Grinding Gear Games has outlined a series of upcoming balance adjustments and bug fixes. The team is currently addressing player feedback regarding the efficiency of league mechanics and the performance of the new Luminary Ascendancy.

Quick Facts

  • Charts and Voyages: Upgrade pieces for Vesper are no longer required for specific strongbox spawns above area level 67.
  • Ascendancy Scaling: Permanent Mercenaries will now face no damage penalty before level 45, with the maximum penalty scaling to level 83.
  • Quality of Life: Players will soon be able to start Charts directly from the Bathysphere rather than speaking to Valerie.
  • Abyss Encounters: Developers confirmed that Abyss rewards, combat, and density are currently being iterated upon for improvement.

Refining Charts and Voyages

To make progression feel more rewarding, several adjustments are hitting the expansion's core loop. The team is reducing the prevalence of 'Dead End' and 'Straight Line' chart types to simplify Voyage construction. Additionally, scattered lootable objects will increase by 20% to 40%, and the Quantity and Rarity values granted by Chart Modifiers are receiving a matching buff.

Technical friction is also being reduced: players will soon be able to view their ongoing Voyage board to track modifiers, and a new chest type, 'Sunken Opulence,' is scheduled for the next restart patch. Lantern placement logic is also being updated to prevent the system from positioning encounters in awkward or inaccessible terrain.

Luminary Ascendancy and Mercenary Power

Feedback indicated that permanent Mercenaries were underperforming, especially in early endgame maps. To combat this, the team is boosting damage scaling for attack-dealing Mercenaries and increasing the spawn rate of Infamous Mercenaries. A new Atlas Passive tree notable is being added to help players deal more damage to enemy Mercenaries and Rogue Exiles, and the team is currently reviewing how Mercenary deaths impact map completion to reduce frustration.

Known Issues and Bug Fixes

The developers are actively investigating several technical reports, including:

  • Deadlock crashes occurring since launch.
  • Caster Mastery failing to grant buffs when opening league mechanic chests.
  • Allflame guidance arrows incorrectly pointing toward already-opened chests.
  • Inconsistent behavior between Chart storage and the Map Stash Tab.
  • Mana Infused Staff failing to interact correctly with Ignite.
  • Mercenary icons persisting on the minimap after death.

Grinding Gear Games noted that these changes represent the priority list, with further adjustments expected as they continue to monitor game performance and player reports.
