NVIDIA announced direct Steam Machine and Steam Controller support coming to NVIDIA GeForce NOW during Gamescom 2026, alongside the release of DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction for desktop gamers. The additions aim to expand cloud gaming options for alternative hardware setups, including Linux-based systems where multiplayer titles are frequently blocked by anti-cheat software.

Hardware Support and App Updates
NVIDIA's upcoming hardware additions build upon its existing support for the Steam Deck and traditional Desktop Linux. Later this year, direct Steam Machine and Steam Controller support will launch for Steam Deck and Steam Machines, followed by Windows and macOS integrations at a later date.
For living room setups, GeForce NOW will expand support later this year to more Fire TV Sticks, including the new Fire TV Stick 4K Select. Users will be able to purchase memberships directly through Amazon within their account.
On the software side, GOG single sign-on is now live. Players can link their GOG account once to sync supported titles and launch them with a single click. Firefox is also officially supported as a browser-based option for high-performance PC gaming.
Additionally, major 2026 PC releases including CONTROL Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, The Blood of Dawnwalker, and STAR WARS Zero Company will be available to stream on GeForce NOW from day one.
DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction Features
Released on August 25, 2026, the new DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction update is available now through a new NVIDIA app update for desktop gamers with GeForce RTX GPUs. The neural rendering technique replaces traditional hand-tuned denoisers to improve image quality in ray-traced and path-traced scenes.
The update incorporates a 2nd generation transformer model that delivers 35% more compute capability and processes 20% more parameters while maintaining performance levels similar to previous models. Enhanced Super Resolution features deeper spatial awareness across every scene, improving lighting accuracy, temporal stability, and motion clarity.
