A Grim Look at Amy's World
Following its initial reveal at InterfaceX26, the upcoming trailer will shift focus toward the game's narrative. Players follow Amy, a goth shop owner who repairs PCs, as she finds herself stalked by a dark force threatening her small town. The gameplay involves digging through client machines, reading emails, and navigating forum posts using tools that mimic 90s-era interfaces like ICQ and DOS.
The game loop balances these "cosy" PC repair tasks with sharp horror elements. When fixing a client's machine, players engage in "Crypto-Nonographic" picross-style puzzles. Solving these grids allows Amy to clear out viruses that crawl out of the systems, a mechanic designed to reflect the game's tonal shift between calm shop work and grim mystery.
Linux Support and Development
Linux users can expect a native build rather than a reliance on Proton. The founder of Kitico transitioned to Zorin OS as their full-time operating system a few months ago, solidifying the team's commitment to the platform. While the game is currently being developed in Unity, the team has expressed a desire to move to Godot for future releases.
As of now, there is no official word on Steam Deck support or specific system requirements. The studio has yet to conduct testing for handheld hardware, so players should look for further updates regarding performance and input optimization as the launch approaches.
Solving the Town's Mystery
The story centers on a series of deaths in Amy's town, with clues hidden within the files of the PCs she repairs. Amy also spends time on local plot forums, where she attempts to debunk the theories of other users by uncovering the truth herself. With an art style inspired by 90s FMV games and a soundtrack rooted in 90s industrial music, Murder Meet Cute aims to capture a specific, grim aesthetic while maintaining a sense of sharp humor through Amy’s interactions with her clients.
