  • Beta Access: No registration or PlayStation Plus subscription required, though an internet connection and a PlayStation account are needed on Sony's hardware.

What's Included in the Beta

Players jumping into the beta can test out 15 characters from the 20-fighter roster available at launch, including Blade, Iron Man, Black Panther, and Magneto. Fights take place across six locations. Beyond standard matches, the beta features an open lobby, a training mode to practice controls, and the opening three chapters of the narrative-driven Episode Mode.

Steam users can download the beta directly from the store page. While no pre-registration is necessary, the PC version's requirement for a PlayStation account has drawn attention due to regional availability restrictions on Steam.

Phoenix Cyclops Arrives in Year One

Alongside the beta launch, Arc System Works revealed the first post-launch DLC fighter for *Fighting Souls*. Phoenix Cyclops will arrive in autumn as part of the game's first batch of year-one additions, which includes four new characters and a new stage.

This version of the character takes inspiration from the Phoenix Five incarnation featured in Avengers vs. X-Men. According to producer Takeshi Yamanaka, the fighter combines hand-to-hand combat and Optic Blasts with the cosmic power of the Phoenix Force.
