Eclipse Glow Games has confirmed that actress Jennifer English is stepping away from her role as Gwendolyn, the lead protagonist in the upcoming single-player action game Tides of Annihilation. The studio announced on July 17, 2026, that English’s departure is due to personal health reasons.

English, who informed the studio of her decision in early June, will remain involved with the project in an advisory capacity. A New Voice for Gwendolyn
The developer confirmed that a successor has already been selected. According to the studio, the new actor was recommended by English and other members of the voice cast. While her identity remains undisclosed, the team noted that her recent industry work left a strong impression on both the developers and English, citing her commitment to understanding the character.
Players will get their first opportunity to hear the new performance when Tides of Annihilation appears at Gamescom 2026 this August. The new actor is currently recording lines for the playable demo, and her voice will also be featured in select official video updates leading up to the event.

First revealed during Sony’s February 2025 State of Play, Tides of Annihilation is a narrative-driven action adventure set in a modern-day London. The story centers on Gwendolyn as she battles magical forces inspired by Arthurian legends, utilizing spectral versions of the Knights of the Round Table to aid in combat.
The Chengdu-based studio, Eclipse Glow Games, has not yet announced a final release date for the title. However, the team continues to release development footage and trailers as they prepare for the upcoming hands-on exhibition at Gamescom.
