In Mortal Shell 2, the map does not automatically reveal itself as you traverse the environment. Even after exploring a region, you will remain obscured by a fog of war until you manually locate specific map fragments.
How to Reveal Your Map
To clear the fog and see your surroundings, follow these steps:
- Reach a new area: As you enter new locations, the game will automatically mark the locations of Ruk’s statues on your in-progress map using a black bird icon.
- Locate the statue: Navigate to the marked black bird icon on your map.
- Collect the fragment: Once you reach the large statue, look for the map fragment placed directly in front of it.
Understanding Map Markers
The map fragments serve two primary purposes in navigating the world. First, they display the terrain for the immediate area. Second, specific fragments guarded by Ruk will highlight the locations of Corrupted Gates. Finding these gates is essential for progression, as they guide you toward the game's next major destination.
If you see areas of your map still covered by the fog of war, check your map for any remaining black bird icons, as these indicate areas where you have yet to collect a fragment.
