A Grim Corporate Simulation

In Holonoptic, players take on the role of a CEO tasked with managing a struggling Swiss tunnel construction firm. The narrative is driven by an AI entity known as Geist, which maintains a hostile relationship with the player while overseeing their management decisions. The gameplay requires balancing deep economic strategy—such as site management, hiring and firing staff, and negotiating with over 50 different firms—with personal survival.

The CEO character features 40 distinct mind traits and eight mood states that influence decision-making. Players can manage these states using 16 different drugs that alter focus, joy, or calm, reflecting the game's focus on the personal cost of professional success. The narrative branches across eight belief tracks, including paths like free trade, group rule, and crime, which can lead to more than ten distinct endings.

Management and RPG Mechanics

Beyond the economic simulation, the game incorporates RPG elements involving 16 key staff members. Each character features custom art, voice acting, and their own private goals that may align with or oppose the player's interests. The RPG system includes nine classes, six skills, and over 70 feats, allowing players to navigate deals through negotiation, stealth, or illicit activities.

The project was created by solo developer Kevin Bloch, who spent six years developing the title. The game includes over 120 items and upgrades to manage throughout the campaign. While a native Linux version is available, the developer has not provided specific details regarding controller support or Steam Deck compatibility.

Players interested in the title can access a demo on Steam to test the game's mechanics and tone before purchasing.
