If you've ever wondered how Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy would translate into an anime-inspired roguelike, Hell Maiden is here to provide an answer. The game officially launched today, July 16, 2026, in early access on PC, inviting players to descend through the circles of hell with a unique visual and mechanical twist.

Quick Facts

  • Release Date: July 16, 2026
  • Platform: PC (Steam)
  • Price: $10
  • Developer: AstralShift

Gameplay and Setting

In Hell Maiden, you play as a version of Dante reimagined as an anime girl. After suffering a bout of amnesia, you find yourself back in the depths of hell with the singular goal of climbing your way back to Paradiso. As you navigate the nine circles of hell, you will encounter various poets of limbo, all of whom influence your specific playstyle.

Mechanically, the game functions as a fusion of Vampire Survivors and Hades. You fend off hordes of enemies by building up automatic attacks and utilizing deckbuilding mechanics. The structure follows a roguelike loop where you must repeatedly face death to grow stronger across multiple runs.

Early Access Roadmap

Because the game is currently in early access, developer AstralShift has outlined a limited scope for the current build. At launch, players have access to the first two circles of hell, four poets of limbo, two bosses, and one mid-boss.

Future updates are planned for later in 2026, which will introduce an additional story chapter, another circle, a new boss, more weapons, and further achievements. A secondary patch is also planned for the future, though it currently lacks a release date. The development team expects the game to remain in early access for one year, with a planned price increase once the 1.0 version officially releases.
