Crate Entertainment has released a new update for Grim Dawn, addressing player feedback following the recent launch of the Fangs of Asterkarn expansion. Patch 1.3.0.4 introduces quality-of-life changes, including an optional toggle for one of the expansion's most contentious enemies.

Disable The Dread

The Dread, a powerful Chthonic agent that spawns randomly during Ascendant mode, can now be toggled off. Players who find the encounter disruptive can visit the Remnant in Devil's Crossing or Kurnhold to disable its appearance. Crate Entertainment noted that while they do not plan to nerf the enemy's difficulty, the option is intended to provide players more control over their endgame experience.

Patch 1.3.0.4 Changes

  • Boss Rebalancing: Early game bosses have been tuned to match pre-v1.3.0 levels, specifically reducing burst damage potential. Similar adjustments were applied to various Fangs of Asterkarn foes.
  • Evade Controls: A new option allows the evade move to trigger toward the cursor's position rather than the character's facing direction. This is enabled by default but can be toggled in the controls menu.
  • UI Adjustments: A new 'big cursor' setting is available for players using larger screens.
  • Boss Variants: Normal and elite versions of specific bosses, including the expansion's final encounter, are now tuned independently of ultimate and ascendant versions.

Lead Gameplay Designer Kamil 'Zantai' Marczewski confirmed that these changes are part of the studio's ongoing post-release support for the ARPG. The update is live now on PC.
