Crate Entertainment has released update 1.3.0.4 for Grim Dawn, bringing several quality-of-life improvements and balancing adjustments to the PC version of the game. The update follows player feedback regarding the Fangs of Asterkarn expansion.
Managing 'The Dread' Encounters
Players now have the option to opt out of encounters with The Dread, a Chthonic agent that spawns during Ascendant mode. While the developer stated they have no plans to nerf the enemy's difficulty, they are providing this toggle to give players more control over their endgame experience. The feature can be managed by speaking with the Remnant in Devil's Crossing or Kurnhold.
Gameplay and UI Adjustments
The patch introduces several technical and balance updates to refine the current experience:
- Evade Controls: A new setting allows the evade ability to move toward the cursor's position by default, which can be adjusted in the controls menu.
- Boss Rebalancing: Early game bosses and various Fangs of Asterkarn foes have been tuned to reduce burst damage potential, returning them closer to pre-v1.3.0 levels.
- Independent Scaling: Normal and elite boss variants, including the expansion's final encounter, are now tuned separately from ultimate and ascendant versions.
- Visuals: A 'big cursor' setting has been added to support players using larger screens.
Lead Gameplay Designer Kamil 'Zantai' Marczewski confirmed these adjustments are part of the studio's ongoing post-release support for the title. The update is currently available for all PC players.
