The Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer beta offers players a chance to test the upcoming title, including the new Horde Siege mode—a cooperative PvE experience supporting 12 players in smaller squads. Developer The Coalition is hosting the test across two distinct windows in August 2026.

How to Get Early Access
To participate in the first weekend of the beta, you must meet one of the following requirements:
- Pre-order Gears of War: E-Day.
- Maintain an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
- Maintain an active Game Pass PC subscription.
Note that Game Pass Premium or Essential subscribers do not qualify for early access. If you wish to join the first weekend, you can upgrade your subscription or purchase the game at any point before the early access window concludes on August 10.
How to Join the Open Beta
If you do not have a pre-order or an eligible Game Pass subscription, you can participate during the second weekend, which is open to all players. Simply download the beta client on your Xbox or PC once it becomes available for public download closer to August 13.
The beta focuses on multiplayer stress testing and includes both PvP modes and the new Horde Siege mode. No information has been provided regarding a release on platforms outside of Xbox and PC.
