Director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will serve as an integration point for the wider Final Fantasy VII universe. Speaking at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival Berlin 2026, Hamaguchi clarified that the final chapter of the Remake trilogy will account for the lore established in multiple spin-off titles, specifically citing Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core.

Connecting the Expanded Universe

While fans have long speculated on whether the trilogy’s conclusion would align with the 2004 film Advent Children, the development team has now solidified this approach. Hamaguchi noted that the team is carefully considering how to weave these titles into the narrative of Revelation, ensuring that the ending reflects the broader scope of the series.

Producer Yoshinori Kitase previously emphasized that the goal is not to move away from the established story, but to balance original elements with the existing canon. “The overall storyline, the developments, will not go wildly out in a way that will not add up to Advent Children in the end,” Kitase stated. Hamaguchi echoed this sentiment, describing the current project as an “overarching universe” that encompasses the various spin-offs rather than standing as a separate entity.

What This Means for Players

Despite the complexity of merging multiple narrative threads, Hamaguchi clarified that players should expect a unified conclusion. While the game provides opportunities to engage with story moments in different ways, the project is moving toward a “singular ending.”
