Developer IndigoWare has released a substantial social update for the pre-alpha build of Crowned Sun, shifting the 3D isometric MMORPG from a solo-focused experience toward a shared online environment. The update introduces several core systems designed to facilitate interaction between players on Linux, Mac, and Windows.

New Social and Economic Tools

The update prioritizes player interaction through a comprehensive trade system. Users can now exchange items and Zin currency using a drag-and-drop interface, which includes a mandatory lock-in step to ensure transaction security. To support an active, player-run economy, the developers have implemented vending shops that allow for sales, including an 'autotrade' feature that keeps shops active while players are offline. A new auction house has also been added, complete with buyout options, search filters, and transaction fees.

Communication and group play have received similar attention. Players now have access to whisper windows, improved friend management tools, and a refined party system. The updated HUD provides clearer visibility for health, mana, class icons, and bonus experience points. Additionally, players can now form guilds and design custom 32x32 emblems, which appear above members and on castle flags.

Pets, Mounts, and Exploration

Crowned Sun now features 37 full 3D pets, including foxes, monkeys, and rabbits, all rendered in the game's signature cel-shaded style. These pets can be fed or petted to perform tricks with visual heart effects. For travel, three mounts have been introduced: the Ogongo, Dark Ogongo, and Imado.

Exploration is supported by a new world map that includes zoom functionality, drag-to-navigate controls, and path-clearing features. Ground arrows now guide players toward their destinations. New playable areas, such as the Ifadun guild field and a new castle, have been added, alongside updated interiors for Ayaokun.

Combat and Technical Updates

Combat has been deepened with the introduction of the Orisha blessing draft, where players choose one of three randomized blessings. A new stats window provides a radar chart for real-time tracking, and death now leaves behind essence that players can locate using map markers. Damage and death effects have been visually updated, and a max-level aura now designates high-ranking players.

Technical improvements include over 70 new sound effects, with specific music and audio cues now tied to individual maps. The UI has been overhauled with new fonts and smoother window transitions. While native support for Linux, Mac, and Windows is a confirmed priority, the team has not yet released performance data or confirmed specific support for Steam Deck and Proton.
