Firaxis Games has confirmed that Sid Meier's Civilization VII will receive its latest patch, update 1.4.2, tomorrow, July 28, 2026. The update arrives at 7AM PT / 10AM ET / 4PM CET, bringing several mechanical adjustments focused on player diplomacy.

Key Gameplay Changes

The headline feature for this update is an expansion to the game's peace deal system. Players will now be able to trade Gold and Influence as part of their diplomatic negotiations, moving beyond the previous limitations of only trading settlements.

In addition to the changes to diplomacy, the patch includes:

  • Improved Leader Relationship Clarity: Enhanced indicators to help players better understand their standing with other leaders.
  • Victory Condition Toggles: The ability to enable or disable specific victory types has been restored to the game, following issues previously reported with the "Test of Time" feature.

Designer Taymoor provided a full walkthrough of these changes in the latest developer video, which is available on the official Civilization VII YouTube channel.

New Content: Brush & Blade

Alongside the technical update, the second part of the Brush & Blade collection launches. This release adds Yi Sun-sin, Goryeo, and the Joseon civilization to the game’s roster. Players can find further details regarding these additions through the official Civilization VII content portal.

While this update focuses on diplomatic systems, Firaxis has also been active with recent hotfixes, including the version 1.4.1 hotfixes released on June 30 and July 9 to address specific platform stability for Linux and Steam Deck users.
