Cassette Beasts 2002 Arrives March 2027 with Extensive Features
The highly anticipated monster-collecting RPG, Cassette Beasts 2002developed by Bytten Studio, is officially scheduled for release in March 2027. This retro-inspired title invites players into the world of Nodnol, an environment designed as a nostalgic tribute to 2000s London, where the lines between humanity and monstrous creatures blur. Players will embark on a quest to unravel an occultist's conspiracy while discovering and transforming into a vast array of over 250 different beasts.
At its core, Cassette Beasts 2002 offers a rich turn-based combat system. A standout mechanic involves recording encountered beasts onto cassette tapes, allowing players to then assume their forms in battle. Further deepening the strategic possibilities, the game introduces a fusion system where any two beasts can be combined, resulting in over 57,000 unique and fully-animated fusion forms. This extensive customization provides players with significant tactical depth, enabling them to adapt their combat approach to various challenges. Additionally, alchemy plays a crucial role, offering the ability to apply buffs, debuffs, or even alter an opponent's elemental type during engagements.
Beyond combat, the game emphasizes player interaction and exploration. Players can befriend, recruit, and even romance a diverse cast of twelve companions, each fully voiced by a celebrated cast. These companions come with their own distinct motivations, personal stories, and gameplay advantages. Strengthening these bonds directly impacts gameplay, unlocking more potent fusion abilities in battle. The world of Nodnol is also open for cooperative exploration, as Cassette Beasts 2002 includes online multiplayer. This feature allows friends to trade tapes, record new beasts together, and participate in any encounter, including critical story battles, as a team.
Adding an unpredictable element to gameplay, certain beasts encountered may "go rogue," breaking free from their typical roles. These rogue beasts are designed to learn from player combat techniques, adapt their strategies, and return to challenge players with renewed ferocity, ensuring dynamic and evolving encounters. The game is confirmed to support Native Linux, developed using the Godot Engine, and will be available on Steam.
