Amazon has launched its cloud gaming platform, Luna Is Now Part of Prime Video, allowing subscribers to stream games directly through the streaming service. The rollout applies to users in the U.S. and UK who access Prime Video on a Fire TV device.

The update arrives with No Extra Cost for existing subscribers, as Luna is included as a standard benefit of a Prime membership. Amazon's approach aims to simplify how players discover interactive titles by placing games alongside traditional video content.

How to Play Amazon Luna on Prime Video

  1. Open the Prime Video app on your Fire TV device (available in the U.S. and UK).
  2. Navigate to the new Games tab located right on the top interface.
  3. Select a game from the library and click to start playing instantly.
  4. Use a standard gaming controller or your smartphone to control the game.

Available Games and Library Size

The standard tier included with Prime features close to 100 games. The library contains major titles such as Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, alongside party games like Clue, Ticket to Ride, and Taboo. Amazon also offers co-op card battlers like Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite and AI party games such as Courtroom Chaos: Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Amazon plans to add new games to the service every month.

Amazon's Strategy to Rebuild Trust in Cloud Gaming

According to Jeff Gattis, GM of Gaming at Amazon, past industry attempts at cloud gaming struggled because platforms targeted core console and PC owners who already owned high-end hardware. Rather than competing directly with dedicated consoles, Amazon is targeting the broader population of players who do not own gaming rigs.

Amazon believes technological improvements have addressed past latency and fidelity issues. To help rebuild trust among users who had negative experiences with cloud gaming years ago, the platform removes installation barriers entirely by streaming directly through existing entertainment apps.

Future Integrations

Amazon plans to connect video and interactive content further by pairing television and movie properties with matching games on the same screen. Upcoming media tie-ins include integration with properties like Tomb Raider. Amazon has stated that more details on additional devices, countries, and games will be shared in the months ahead.
