If you prefer your RPGs without the safety net of a party, Age of Legacy might be the next title to keep on your radar. Developer Chaotic Order Games is building a brutal, turn-based 1v1 roguelike that strips away the usual team-based mechanics, leaving you alone against a hostile, ruined world.
The game is set in a kingdom broken by the treachery of General Maelgerok, who seized the throne through the murder of the King fifty years ago. In this landscape, you don't have a healer or a tank to bail you out. Every encounter is a solitary duel where a single error can effectively end your run, as the game features permanent death for your character, gear, and resources.
Tactical Depth and Class Variety
To avoid the feeling of a repetitive grind, the game launches with three distinct classes: Mage, Warrior, and Ranger. Each class dictates your specific pool of abilities, resource types, and runestones. Chaotic Order Games emphasizes that these aren't just cosmetic choices; they fundamentally change how you approach the game's loop of combat and vendor-based gear progression.
Progression relies on a combination of rare equipment and strategic skill selection. Runestones provide passive perks that can alter your build, forcing you to constantly refine your plan as you face increasingly dangerous enemies. The goal is to build a character capable of surviving a series of high-pressure, one-on-one tactical encounters.
Native Support for Linux and Mac
For those playing outside of the Windows ecosystem, the news is promising. Chaotic Order Games has confirmed native support for Linux and Mac. Developer Jaroslav noted that the game—built in the Unity engine—was tested specifically on Ubuntu and performed well. While there are currently no specific details regarding Steam Deck verification or controller support, the turn-based nature of the gameplay suggests it could be a natural fit for handheld play.
Release Details and Demo Availability
While the full game is slated for a Steam launch on July 9, 2027, you won't have to wait that long to see if the combat holds up. A free demo is scheduled for release on July 10, 2026. This demo will serve as the best way for players to test the game's performance and see if the high-stakes, 1v1 tactical loop aligns with their preferences before the full release next year.
