Nintendo continues to maintain a strong presence in the Japanese retail market. According to the latest figures from Famitsu covering the two-week period from August 3 to August 16, 2026, Rhythm Heaven Groove remains the top-selling boxed title.

Quick Facts

  • Total Lifetime Sales: 873,839 units.
  • Platform: Nintendo Switch.
  • Hardware Leader: The Switch 2 shifted 65,560 units during the same period.

While the market is dominated by Nintendo platforms, the PS5 title Beast of Reincarnation managed a successful debut, securing the third position in the top ten with 48,157 units sold. Other notable performers include Splatoon Raiders on the Switch 2, which moved 64,921 units, and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on the Switch, which continues to hold steady at 43,884 units for the period.

Hardware sales reflect a similar trend. The Switch 2 led the console charts with 65,560 units, significantly outpacing the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, which sold 19,310 units. Combined, the various iterations of the original Switch console accounted for 15,020 units, while the PlayStation 5 followed with 19,955 units.

The charts highlight a continued preference for Nintendo's hardware and software ecosystem among Japanese consumers, with the exception of the newly released Beast of Reincarnation.
