It is officially Go Fest Global weekend, and for the staff at Pocket Gamer, that means one thing: an intense, multi-day commitment to Pokémon Go. With the event running from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, the team is gearing up for a significant grind.

The Go Fest Global Experience

Editor in Chief Dann Sullivan confirmed he will be out in his local town for the duration of the event, specifically targeting shiny Pokémon, hundos, and the two new Mega Forms recently added for Mewtwo. He noted that the appeal of the event remains the social aspect—getting outside with friends and pacing the local area, even amidst a record-breaking heatwave in the UK.

Staff writer Jupiter Hadley is also dedicating the weekend to the event. Having played the game daily since last Saturday, Hadley admitted, "I will be playing SO much Pokémon Go, I might get sick of Pokémon Go for a week."

Beyond the Fest: Other Titles in Rotation

While Pokémon Go dominates the weekend agenda, the team is keeping busy with other mobile titles:

  • Jupiter Hadley: Aside from the Go Fest, Hadley is playing Color Bus Trip, a hyper-casual title about organizing buses that the writer describes as a non-pay-to-win treat.
  • Stephen Gregson-Wood: The Deputy Editor is revisiting Pokémon Unite. While he enjoys the gameplay and the addition of Chandelure as a playable character, he expressed frustration with the game's "free-to-playitus," citing excessive pop-ups and laggy menus as hurdles to getting into matches.
  • Will Quick: The freelance writer is currently investigating werewolf-themed games like Shadowthrone and Wolf Tales, following his recent interest in Love and Deepspace.
  • Iwan Morris: After upgrading from a Samsung S20 to an A26, Morris is spending his time indoors during the heatwave, using his new device to revisit older mobile games and test newer titles that were previously inaccessible due to hardware limitations.

Staff on the Road

Not everyone is participating in the Go Fest this weekend, as some staff members are currently reporting from industry conventions. Shaun Walton is in London, Canada, for TennoCon, where he is balancing event coverage with some casual time in Warframe and Valheim. Meanwhile, Reviews Editor Catherine Dellosa is in Shanghai for TorchCon 2026, where she is preparing to cover the new season of Torchlight Infinite.
