A massive new overhaul mod for Stardew Valley lets players bypass the shipping bin and traditional shops to run their own business directly in Pelican Town. Created by modder bubuge12, the handcrafted project is titled Farmer's Store and is available on Nexus Mods.
Rather than dropping items off at standard locations, the mod turns the cozy farming sim into a business management game. According to the mod's description and trailer, players can set up grocery stores, museums, or restaurants. The gameplay mechanics go far beyond basic retail: you can hire employees, order stock from suppliers, replenish shelves, and run marketing campaigns.
Overcooked-Style Gameplay and Staff Management
The mod incorporates fast-paced mechanics reminiscent of Overcooked. In the gameplay trailer, the user is shown running to and from the kitchen to cook and serve customers in a timely fashion. Players also have to feed their own employees family-meal style to keep operations running.
Once the business is up and running, town villagers periodically visit the establishment to purchase products. Depending on what the villagers see or experience during their visit, they will leave a review for the store, prompting the trailer's teaser: "Become Pelican Town's worst boss."'
The developer aimed to recreate early-game excitement for veteran players by allowing all product types to succeed rather than relying strictly on the same profitable items. Players can take a perfect photo of an item to whip up a promotional poster that increases its value, or write custom descriptions for every item to make them more enticing.
Translation, Compatibility, and Multiplayer Support
While the trailer features English voice-over and the Nexus page is written in English, the screenshots and footage in the mod's preview are in Chinese. The mod author notes that the content is machine-translated, meaning some text and UI aspects may not read as smoothly as standard localization. The creator is currently teaming up with Nexus users to bring the mod to additional languages, and NPC dialogue is generated using AI tools.
The mod has been built from the ground up to ensure compatibility with other major mods, including Stardew Valley Expanded. Furthermore, the creator has promised that multiplayer support will be added in a future update, with the mod page noting that "this is only the beginning."
