The team at BULKHEAD has remained tight-lipped regarding a concrete release date for Wardogs, but a recent developer stream may have finally revealed the timeline. During a broadcast featuring CEO and executive producer Joe Brammer, eagle-eyed viewers spotted a sign in the background stating there were "48 working days until launch."
Based on that calculation, the tactical shooter is currently slated for a September 9, 2026 release. However, as some viewers have pointed out, there is a possibility the date could slide to September 10. Given that BULKHEAD is based in the UK, where August 31 is a bank holiday, the "working days" count may shift depending on how the studio accounts for the public holiday. Regardless of the exact 24-hour window, the game appears set for a release in early September, falling right in line with the team's previously projected late summer window.
Tactical Gameplay and Economic Stakes
Wardogs looks to carve out its own niche by blending elements from various staples of the PC gaming landscape. According to previous devlogs, the game features a large-scale, three-way team fight for control. This structure mirrors the faction-based mercenary gameplay seen in Gray Zone Warfare, while the map scale and heavy reliance on vehicle mechanics draw comparisons to Squad and the Battlefield series.
Where Wardogs aims to differentiate itself is through its live, player-driven economy. Unlike many shooters that use abstract points for progression, players must bankroll their own war efforts using virtual cash. Every piece of equipment, from a simple bullet to an expensive attack helicopter, must be purchased out of pocket.
This creates a unique tension in the field. While tactical shooters often encourage players to fire rockets at passing vehicles on sight, the cost of munitions in Wardogs will likely force a more cautious approach. Players who have worked hard to afford an anti-tank rocket will think twice before using it, and by the same token, those piloting expensive vehicles will be significantly more protective of their assets.
The Road to Launch
The title has already completed a closed playtest involving approximately 4,000 players. Early reports from participants have been largely positive, with praise focused on the game's progression systems and the synergy between infantry and vehicle combat. With Team17 backing the project, Wardogs is positioning itself as an approachable yet realistic entry into the tactical shooter genre.
While fans have waited a long time for a definitive date, this latest leak provides the most concrete evidence yet that the wait is nearly over. For those interested in picking it up upon release, the game will be available on PC via Steam.
