Activision is intensifying its efforts to combat cheating within the Call of Duty franchise by pursuing direct legal action against prominent cheat sellers. On August 22, during the Modern Warfare 4 closed beta, the publisher released footage showing a legal representative delivering a cease-and-desist order to the Ohio residence of a vendor identified as Elocarry. The video, shared via the official Call of Duty account, depicts the formal service of legal documents to an individual, signaling a shift toward real-world consequences for those involved in the creation and distribution of illicit software.

Elocarry had been actively marketing cheat packs for Call of Duty titles, including Black Ops 7 and Warzone, while also offering software for other multiplayer games such as Rust and Apex Legends. Before the intervention, the vendor advertised a cheat pack for Black Ops 7 and Warzone, claiming it was undetectable by the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system, with three-month subscriptions priced at 79.99. Following the legal visit, a screenshot from the Elocarry Discord server indicated that sales of Call of Duty-related products were temporarily paused to address an internal matter.

This enforcement action is part of a wider global initiative by Activision. The publisher reports that it has issued more than 80 cease-and-desist demands, targeted over 375 reseller operations, and shut down more than 30 vendors. Activision stated that it intends to pursue further litigation against any parties that fail to comply with its demands, emphasizing a commitment to protecting the integrity of its gaming environment.

Enhancements to RICOCHET Anti-Cheat

Alongside these legal measures, Activision highlighted ongoing improvements to its RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system ahead of the launch of Modern Warfare 4. During the recent beta period, the company reported several technical advancements:

  • Increased difficulty for users attempting to evade hardware bans.
  • A faster time to action when identifying and removing cheaters.
