Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve officially arrived on October 1, 2026, but the PC launch has been met with significant backlash from the community. The main issue is the implementation of the pre-order bonus, Ace Combat 0: The Belkan War. While console players received a more streamlined experience, PC users are forced to download the entire 150 GB base game just to access the 4 GB bonus content. This requirement has caused immediate friction for players, particularly those using storage-constrained devices like the Steam Deck.
Technical Hurdles and Performance Concerns
Beyond the storage controversy, the PC version of Ace Combat 8 is currently suffering from several technical stability problems. players are encountering frequent crashes and memory leaks that disrupt gameplay. Furthermore, the game currently lacks support for many third-party flight sticks, which is a major drawback for a title in this genre. The following table outlines the technical requirements and known issues currently affecting the PC release:
| Category | Detail |
|---|---|
| Base Game Size | 150 GB |
| Bonus Content Size | 4 GB |
| Reported Bugs | Memory leaks, crashes |
| Hardware Issues | Flight stick incompatibility |
Player Impact and Verdict
The frustration is compounded by the lack of individual Steam achievements or activity tracking for the included Ace Combat 0 content. Because the bonus is treated strictly as DLC within the larger 150 GB package, players feel the integration is poorly optimized. For those considering a purchase, the $90 Deluxe edition price point makes these technical shortcomings harder to overlook. If you are a PC player who relies on specific flight stick peripherals or has limited SSD space, you may want to wait for official patches to address the memory leaks and hardware compatibility issues before committing to the purchase.
