Custom Static Objects are the supported system for adding structures, props, scenery and destructible targets to custom missions. This guide starts with a prepared pack; creating the models and exporting them is the separate workflow in the developer’s creator manual. [1] [2]

Import the pack and verify it in VTEDIT

Steps

  1. In Steam, right-click VTOL VR and choose Manage > Browse Local Files to open the game folder. Create CustomStaticObjects there if it is missing. [2]
  2. Place the complete folder named for the CSO pack inside CustomStaticObjects. The pack folder includes info.csop, a Materials subfolder and subfolders for the static objects. [2]
  3. Open VTOL VR’s VTEDIT main menu and select Custom Static Objects. Select the pack in the left menu to inspect its objects. [2]
  4. Create or open a custom mission. Open the Static Objects tab and create a new object; the imported pack should be available there. [2]

The version 1.13 announcement says custom static objects can be shared on Steam Workshop and are automatically bundled with missions that use them. Verify the imported pack in the editor before building the mission around it. [1] [2]
