Choose two compatible gear pieces
Gnogmentation combines two gear pieces into one. The official, player-maintained wiki says it does not require a crafting specialization or skill line. The items must share a gear type, such as boots with boots, and class-specific spells and feats must share the class. The publisher’s 5.48 change permits characters to combine another class’s items when those items share their class-type and slot. [1]
Steps
- Choose items of the same class-type and gear slot. Being able to combine another class’s items does not permit combining arbitrary slots or incompatible classes. [2]
Open Gnogment on PC
On PC, the wiki documents two entry points: drag the preferred item to the cog in the bottom-right of the Inventory tab, or use the Gnogment icon in the menu window. The mobile procedure uses the gear’s own description menu, so do not look for that mobile button when following the PC route here. [1]
Steps
- Open the PC Gnogment window using the inventory cog or menu icon, then place the two compatible items in its slots. [1]
Select the base stats and retained runes
Choose the stats from the gear piece you want as the base, then choose the runes to retain. The choices include feats, proficiencies, reinforcements and augmentations. For Fabled gear, check the base selection carefully: its Fabled set status cannot transfer to ordinary gear. Select the Fabled piece as the base if that is the set piece you intend to preserve. [1]
Steps
- Select the intended base stats, then select each rune you want in the finished item. Check the Fabled base when a Fabled set piece is involved. [1]
Check paid sockets and the displayed cost
Some rune slots require no sockets; extra slots are marked with a socket icon. Using those extra slots requires the appropriate sockets in inventory. The wiki distinguishes Common yellow sockets for gear through level 60 and Premium green sockets from level 61. The final preview displays the gold and socket cost, so inspect the actual item’s requirement instead of assuming every combination has the same price. [1]
Steps
- Review the final gear, its retained runes and the gold/socket preview before agreeing to finish. You can back up from this preview to change the selections. [1]
Confirm only the result you intend to keep
Gnogmentation is permanent. Feats, spells and other runes not selected into the result are lost. Naming the final item is separate from the base and rune choices. Appearance changes now use the Wardrobe rather than changing the item’s look through Gnogmentation, so use the combination screen for its actual stats and runes. [1]
Limits & applicability
- The result keeps the most restrictive binding of its inputs. An otherwise successful combination can therefore remain soulbound or accountbound. [2]
