Transport Fever 2: How to Install, Enable and Save a Mod Preset

Use the Autumn Update’s integrated browser, activate the mod and dependencies in game settings, then save or append an ordered preset.

PC

Install through the integrated browser

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The September 23, 2024 Autumn Update released the integrated mod system. This guide follows the official PC game manual’s browser and activation controls. [1]

Use the in-game browser to install a mod from mod.io. The manual recommends mod.io across PC and console editions, while Steam Workshop is another source for the Steam PC edition. [2]

Steps

  1. Find and install the chosen mod through the in-game browser. [2]

Open the correct mod settings

Installation and activation are separate actions. Use SETTINGS when creating a new game; for a saved game, choose SELECT OPTIONS in its load dialog and open MODS. Both routes expose the installed-mod list. [2]

Steps

  1. For an existing save, open SELECT OPTIONS and choose MODS before loading it. [2]

Enable the mod and its dependencies

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

The Enabled column uses gray for inactive and green for active. Enable the desired entry, then make sure its required dependencies are enabled as well. [2]

Use the mod’s own description for dependency, order and incompatibility requirements. The manual does not prescribe one universal order for all mods. [2]

Steps

  1. Click the gray Enabled toggle to activate the mod. [2]
  2. Activate every dependency identified by the mod author. [2]

Adjust the ordered list and commit the settings

The index beside an activated mod controls its position. Single arrows move it one place; double arrows move it to the beginning or end. Change the order when the author’s dependency instructions require it. [2]

Steps

  1. Select the index and use the arrows to arrange the required order. [2]
  2. Press SAVE at the bottom right to commit the mod settings. [2]

Save the preset and choose LOAD or APPEND later

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

The top-left SAVE stores the active ordered list as a preset in userdata. It serves a different purpose from committing the current game’s settings. [2]

LOAD replaces the current active list with the preset. [2]

APPEND keeps the current selection and adds the preset’s entries that are not already active. [2]

Steps

  1. Open LOAD, choose the saved preset and select the replacement or append behavior appropriate to the intended list. [2]
