Total War: WARHAMMER III: How to Access Immortal Empires and Check DLC Ownership

Understand the current campaign entry points, selectable races, Free-LC and same-platform ownership before buying extras.

Separate campaign access from the Lords you can select

Immortal Empires is the combined sandbox campaign. Access to its complete map does not give every playable race or Legendary Lord: ownership determines which ones you can play, while all races and Lords still appear as AI factions. A locked character therefore does not mean that the campaign map is incomplete or that every game in the trilogy must be bought. [1]

Check the campaign access included with your existing entry point

The September 25, 2026 new-player FAQ explains that any Lords of the End Times DLC pack can act as an entry point into Immortal Empires without owning WARHAMMER I, II or III separately. It includes the selected Lord and associated content, the campaign, WARHAMMER III’s Prologue and Bretonnia with four Lords. This newer model makes older blanket advice about needing all three base games unsuitable. [1]

Steps

  1. Check the campaign and character entitlement attached to what you already own before choosing additional content; a Lords of the End Times pack itself includes Immortal Empires access. [1]

Match the desired race to its game or DLC on the same platform

Games and DLC unlock their associated playable races and Lords. The current FAQ says earlier-game DLC can be used without owning the original base game, but the relevant content must be on the same platform. Free-LC is generally tied to the race you own. For example, High Elf Free-LC can be unlocked through WARHAMMER II or one of the qualifying High Elf DLCs named in the FAQ. [1]

Steps

  1. Verify that the desired Lord’s required game or DLC is owned on the same platform; check its associated race entitlement for Free-LC. [1]

Co-op partners can have different collections

Multiplayer campaigns and battles support friends with different content collections. Each player’s selectable races and Lords depend on their own ownership. You do not need to make every player buy an identical DLC collection to play together. For learning the game itself, the FAQ recommends the included Prologue as the starting point. [1]
