Timberborn: How to Use Goods Statistics to Track a Resource Shortage

Read stock, production and consumption over time, compare district and global views, and understand why a freshly updated save has no earlier statistics.

Let the save begin recording statistics

Timberborn 1.1 introduces recorded goods and population statistics. Open the save on that build and play to begin tracking. The graphs cannot reconstruct a stock history from before the update, so a newly opened older save may initially have little data. [1]

A blank historical range should be interpreted with that start point in mind. It is not evidence that goods disappeared merely because the chart has no values for dates before tracking began. [1]

Open the Goods statistics tab

The Settlement Panel contains the Goods statistics tab. Use this for the resource you are investigating rather than relying only on a current total, because the tab separates several ways that total changes. [1]

Steps

  1. Open Goods statistics in the Settlement Panel and inspect the chosen good’s stock, production and consumption over time. [1]
  2. Choose the relevant time range and switch between global and district views when comparing a particular district with the whole settlement. [1]

Compare stock movement with production and consumption

Read the stock change alongside production and consumption. A remaining stock total describes what is on hand at that moment; the other series show how it has been produced and used. Comparing all three is more informative than treating a single low total as proof that one building has failed. [1]

If the concern is local, inspect that district’s view as well as the global view. Keep the scope consistent when comparing values; a settlement-wide total and one district’s total are not the same measurement. [1]

Use the ten-day tooltip chart for a fast check

Goods tooltips offer a smaller stock chart for the last ten days. It is a convenient stock-history check while browsing resources, but it does not replace the larger tab when you need to compare production and consumption. [1]

Steps

  1. Inspect the good’s tooltip for its recent stock trend, then return to the Goods statistics tab when you need the separate production or consumption series. [1]

Check the related district context

The Settlement Panel also has a Population statistics tab. When the resource question involves the settlement’s changing population or work context, use this separate history rather than assuming the goods graph contains every cause. [1]

That tab includes changes in well-being, housing and employment, and can show parts of the population such as bots. These are additional observations to compare with a shortage, not automatic proof that a particular change caused it. [1]

Keep documented counting fixes in mind

The same update fixes consumption counting in some buildings, including the Steam Engine and Mud Bath. Use the installed build and named building when comparing a continuing discrepancy with that fix history. [1]
