The Rise of the Golden Idol: How to Check Detective Pass and DLC Requirements

Start with the Rise base game requirement

Before adding a Rise investigation, check which base game is owned. The Detective Pass alone is insufficient: the official FAQ requires The Rise of the Golden Idol. Owning only The Case of the Golden Idol does not satisfy that requirement. The similar series names make this the first useful check when the goal is playing more cases after finishing an earlier Golden Idol game. [1]

The later Detective Pass announcement confirms that all four investigations are available and contain 17 new cases in total. It lists The Sins of New Wells, The Lemurian Phoenix, The Age of Restraint and The Curse of the Last Reaper as the individual investigations. Each is a standalone story. Check existing DLC ownership before changing purchase route

The publisher’s FAQ warns that buying an individual DLC and later buying the Detective Pass does not apply a credit for that earlier DLC purchase: the earlier DLC price and the pass price are both paid. Use that warning to check what is already owned before choosing between an individual investigation and the pass. No current sale price or claimed savings amount is needed to establish the ownership distinction. [1]

Keep the Steam soundtrack distinction separate

The FAQ includes the soundtrack with the Steam version of the Detective Pass and explicitly excludes it from the console pass. This guide’s scope is Steam PC. The same FAQ expresses an intention to add DLC tracks to the soundtrack; an intention is not treated here as confirmation that every DLC track has already been added.
