The Case of the Golden Idol: How to Choose and Launch Classic or Redux on Steam

Launch the version you intend to use

On Steam, Redux is included for existing and future owners of The Case of the Golden Idol. The release announcement describes an update prompt followed by a choice of Classic or Redux when launching. Select the edition you intend to play at that choice; Redux is an optional launch parameter, rather than a separate set of cases that must be purchased to replace the original. [1]

Choose Redux when you want the revised interface and object markers

Redux changes the reading and inspection experience: its interface overhaul targets readability and navigation at smaller resolutions, and markers identify objects that can be interacted with. This makes the version choice useful when the immediate difficulty is locating an interaction or reading the interface. Classic remains the offered choice for players who prefer the presentation without these Redux changes. Keep the version update separate from additional cases
