TerraTech Worlds: How to Unlock Tyr and Plan Travel Between Islands

Finish Nibiru’s tutorial, choose bridges or seafaring Techs for the crossing, and use objective distances and completed objectives to find known destinations.

Finish the tutorial on Nibiru

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The released 0.8 update unlocks Tyr when the tutorial on Nibiru is complete. Tyr is a water-world planet whose surface is mostly sea, with biomes spread across relatively small islands. Complete that stated prerequisite before treating Tyr’s absence as an access bug. The release notes do not name an additional paid unlock, hidden level threshold or special trader purchase for this transition. [1]

Steps

  1. Complete the tutorial on Nibiru to satisfy Tyr’s published unlock condition. [1]

Match the crossing method to the island gap

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The developer describes two ways to cross Tyr’s island layout. Close islands may be connected by a built bridge; islands farther apart require seafaring Techs. Choose the route around the size of the crossing rather than assuming every destination is reachable by extending a short land bridge. The notes do not give one fixed maximum bridge distance. [1]

Steps

  1. Build a bridge for a suitably close island, or prepare a seafaring Tech when the intended destination is farther away. [1]

Check the basic boat-block recipes in the selected crafting mode

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

For games using Tech Block Crafting, 0.8 reduces the price of the three basic boat-block recipes and also reduces their crafting recipes. The announcement does not publish the resulting ingredient quantities. Check the actual recipe in your current game before gathering materials, and keep this crafting-mode condition when comparing the change with another player’s save. [1]

Steps

  1. If the save uses Tech Block Crafting, inspect the current basic boat-block recipes before planning the required materials. [1]

Use objective distances to compare destinations

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The active objective now shows its distance from the player. The map displays that distance above the purple active-objective marker, and the objective list shows individual distances in metres. These are distance cues for planning the next destination, not a guarantee that a straight route crosses only land or that every nearby marker can be reached by the same vehicle. [1]

Steps

  1. Read the active objective’s map distance and compare the individual distances in the objective list before choosing the next crossing. [1]

Select completed objectives to locate discovered sites

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The update lets players select completed objectives when setting an active objective, including for locating traders and Bastions. The developer says this helps find previously discovered locations and access known teleportable locations. Reuse those completed entries for a return trip instead of treating completion as meaning the destination can no longer be selected. [1]

Steps

  1. Select the relevant completed objective when you need to locate a previously discovered trader or Bastion again. [1]
