Supermarket Simulator: How to Manage Employee Boosts and Costs

Use the redesigned Hiring tab, change the Boost bar, read its wage cost and understand why a boost remains active across time.

Patch 1.7.0 redesigns Hiring around employee levels, wage progression and Boosts. Use this tab for the current boost system rather than relying on an old guide that describes a temporary boost purchase. [1]

The tab shows employee level, wage and Boost status together. Check the intended employee’s current state before changing a boost, especially if you manage several workers with different jobs. [1]

Steps

  1. Open Hiring and select the employee whose Boost level you want to manage. [1]

Change the employee’s Boost level from the bar

The Boost bar is the documented control for changing the level. The corresponding wage cost is shown there, allowing you to compare the setting with its ongoing expense before leaving it active. [1]

Steps

  1. Adjust the selected employee’s Boost bar to the level you want. [1]
  2. Read the displayed wage cost alongside the selected level instead of assuming each level costs the same. [1]

Remember that the new Boost remains active

The reworked Boost is permanent until its level is changed. It is not described as a short countdown that automatically expires at the end of one task. Revisit the setting when your staffing needs change. [1]

Each Boost level has a fixed daily cost. This guide does not invent dollar amounts, because the announcement gives the charging rule while the game displays the current corresponding cost. [1]

Understand the time-based part of the charge

Although levels have daily costs, the actual payment is based on the in-game time the employee spends boosted. A change partway through the day should therefore be understood through that time-based rule, rather than automatically treated as a whole-day charge for every adjustment. [1]

Steps

  1. When you no longer want the selected boost level, change it in Hiring rather than waiting for it to expire. [1]

Name employees to keep the settings clear

Hiring also lets you assign custom employee names. Naming the workers you are comparing can make the displayed levels, wages and Boost status easier to track. This is an organisational aid, separate from the boost-cost formula. [1]
