Stormworks: How to Identify Modded Servers and Find Their Parts

Read the wrench marker, distinguish server downloads from missing vehicle definitions, and use the parts tray’s mod-name tools without confusing them with Workshop upload support.

Recognize the asset-modding workflow

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Stormworks’ asset-modding release adds game asset mods, Workshop support and multiplayer support together. The developer also supplies an SDK containing compilers and base game files. Playing on a server with mods and authoring a new asset are therefore different tasks: the server listing helps a player identify a modded session, while the SDK is the starting resource for creators. [1]

Look for the wrench marker in the server list

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The developer identifies modded servers with a wrench icon. Use that listing marker when choosing the session you intend to join. The release notes say mods download from the server on joining; they do not give a universal manual file-copy recipe for every server or modpack. Read that distinction before moving files around to resolve a loading message. [1]

Steps

  1. Identify the intended modded server by its wrench icon, then join that session to use its server-supplied mod download flow. [1]

Search and sort the parts tray by mod name

After the mod content is loaded, use its mod name to narrow the parts tray. The asset-modding release explicitly supports both sorting the tray by mod name and searching parts by mod name. This keeps the selection tied to the package you are actually using, rather than relying only on a familiar-looking block thumbnail. [1]

Steps

  1. Sort the parts tray by mod name or search for the relevant mod name to locate its parts. [1]

Separate a missing definition from a filter bug

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

A missing-definition warning is attached to loading a vehicle whose required definitions are absent. Keep that message separate from the parts filter: version 1.15.23 fixes a case where component mods loaded through mods did not appear in their mod-name group. Check the warning and the game version before assuming those two symptoms have the same cause. [1]

The later filter correction specifically names component mods and the group-by-mod-name view. Its wording does not establish that it recovers arbitrary deleted or incompatible mod definitions. [2]

Use the documented path helper when configuring a server

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

For server configuration, the mod and addon selection screens provide a copy-path button. The developer added it to make dedicated-server configuration easier. Use the copied selection path as the documented handoff; the announcement does not publish a complete configuration-file schema or promise that a modded vehicle can be uploaded through every Workshop route. [1]

Steps

  1. When preparing a dedicated-server configuration, use the copy-path button on the mod or addon selection screen for the selected content. [1]
