Schedule I: How to Use a Controller and Restore Input Bindings

Check the developer-tested controller families, understand the virtual pointer, use the binding reset and recognise the later multi-drag cursor fix.

Check the controller family before changing settings

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The 0.4.6 gamepad update lists Xbox Controller, PS5 DualSense and Steam Controller, including Steam Deck, as developer-tested controllers. This describes the publisher’s tests, not testing performed by this publication. [1]

The developer also expects generic Windows XInput controllers to work. That is qualified compatibility language, not a promise that every third-party controller or remapping configuration is supported. [1]

Steps

  1. Use one of the listed controller families when you want the closest match to the developer’s tested support. [1]
  2. Review the game’s gamepad settings for the controller experience you want rather than assuming a keyboard binding controls every pointer behaviour. [1]

Use the game’s virtual cursor assistance

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The gamepad implementation includes a virtual pointer with simulated friction and magnetism. These are intended assistance systems, not necessarily evidence that an apparently slowed pointer is malfunctioning. [1]

Pointer snapping is also designed for click-heavy interactions. Distinguish that intended assistance from erratic motion that appears only during a particular drag operation. [1]

Restore defaults when changed bindings are the problem

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Restore Defaults resets input bindings. Use it deliberately if you want to replace your custom assignments with the game’s defaults; it is not described as a general graphics or save reset. [1]

Steps

  1. Open the input-binding controls and choose Restore Defaults if the altered assignments are the problem you want to undo. [1]
  2. Check the resulting gamepad prompts during play so you can follow the displayed controller actions. [1]

Check the newer fix if the cursor jitters during multi-drag

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Version 0.4.7 fixes lures failing to deactivate during multi-dragging, which caused jitter. If that exact interaction is the problem, compare the installed version with the fix before repeatedly changing unrelated display settings. [2]

Use pause without first closing every interface

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The gamepad update also permits pausing while in a vehicle, phone or dialogue instead of requiring those states to be closed first. It adds an option to pause automatically when focus is lost. Those controls can help when stopping to adjust input settings; they are separate from pointer calibration. [1]
