Open Game Modes while creating a new save
Satisfactory 1.2 places resource-node randomization in the new Game Modes menu, which is available when creating a New Game. It is therefore a world-creation decision in the documented flow. The same update renames Advanced Game Settings to Creative Mode, but that is a separate feature with different achievement behavior. [1]
Steps
- Start New Game and open Game Modes before creating the randomized save. [1]
Choose the resource-node distribution
Under World Randomization, Resource Node Randomization offers Default, Random, Basic Resource Rich, Advanced Resource Rich and Fossil Fuel Rich. Choose the distribution for the run you want to create. The developer lists these as distinct options; it does not claim that a resource-rich preset automatically changes every other cost or power setting. [1]
Steps
- Choose the desired Resource Node Randomization option rather than leaving Default if your intention is a randomized or resource-focused world. [1]
Set purity separately from the distribution
Resource Node Purity is a separate control, with Default, All Pure, Mostly Pure, Average, Mostly Impure, All Impure and Random choices. The 1.2 announcement says the listed Game Modes settings can be adjusted independently. Select the purity behavior you want as well as the distribution; changing one should not be described as automatically choosing the other. [1]
Steps
- Choose Resource Node Purity explicitly, then review the separate distribution and multiplier settings before making the save. [1]
Share the seed and matching settings
The World Seed field shows the current seed so it can be shared with friends. Coffee Stain explicitly notes that sharing the seed is not enough by itself: the other settings must also be matched manually. A vanilla game uses seed 0. To reproduce a configured run, communicate the seed together with the chosen distribution, purity and other active settings rather than promising identical results from the number alone. [1]
Steps
- Record the world seed and give friends the same Game Modes selections, including distribution and purity, so they can match them manually. [1]
Review permanence and multiplayer before committing
Game Modes do not disable achievements. However, once active, their settings cannot be turned off for that save, and active settings also apply in multiplayer sessions. Creative Mode retains the old Advanced Game Settings functionality and disables achievements. Confirm which menu you are using and the rules you want before starting the run. [1]
