Right-click an encyclopedia card to prioritize it during a run
During a run, right-click a card in the encyclopedia to pin it. The pinned card is put forward in card selection, along with cards required to obtain it. Use this to express the direction of the build you want rather than assuming the next level-up will necessarily contain the exact card. Pinning changes selection priority; the later automatic-selection note explicitly preserves the requirement that a card must actually be generated. A pin does not guarantee generation. [1] [2]
Steps
- Right-click the desired encyclopedia card during a run to pin it and prioritize it and its required cards. [1]
Mark unwanted cards as avoided and account for ban charges
The encyclopedia also lets you mark cards as avoided. Such cards are automatically banned when they appear only when that action is possible and a ban charge can be spent. An option can disable this automatic ban behavior. Choose whether you want the automatic spending as part of configuring the build; an avoided-card marker should not be understood as an unlimited supply of ban charges. [3]
Steps
- Mark unwanted cards as avoided, then decide whether to keep or disable automatic banning that consumes available ban charges. [3]
Set the main-menu lists for future runs
Pins and avoided cards can also be set in the main menu, and a new run takes those lists as its starting settings. A change made inside an active run does not update the main-menu pin or avoid lists. Set the menu lists when you want a repeatable starting configuration; change the in-run lists when adapting that particular run. This distinction prevents a temporary choice from being mistaken for a saved default for the next campaign. [3]
Understand the automatic-selection fallback
Automatic card selection tries to choose a pinned card when one is available, but a pin does not force that card to be generated. For avoided cards, automatic selection auto-bans when it can; if no ban is available, it tries to avoid choosing them as much as possible. These are priority and fallback rules, not a promise that every level-up can be resolved using a predetermined preferred card. The no-ban fallback is explicitly conditional. [2] [3]
Keep Black Market behavior separate from ordinary selection
The Black Market ignores banishment rules. Patch 1.1.0.2 therefore stops auto-banishment from banning cards there, avoiding the old pointless charge consumption. If a normally avoided card appears in that market, do not interpret its presence as proof that the encyclopedia list failed to save: the developer documents the market’s special banishment behavior.
