Open a pack before changing its practice settings
Rocket League’s native Custom Training tools let you vary a drill without editing the original pack. The randomization controls introduced in v2.66 are available after opening Custom Training, starting a pack and opening its settings. Change the practice configuration from inside the loaded pack. [1]
Set the ball’s starting variation
Steps
- Use Ball Speed Modifier to vary the initial speed. Its range is 0–100%, with a default of zero. At 50%, the documented variation can raise or lower the ball’s initial speed by up to half. This is a random range, rather than an instruction to make every shot exactly 50% faster. [1]
- Ball Location Modifier changes where the ball appears within a radius of its original position. Ball Height Modifier changes its vertical starting position. Both have a documented range of 0–1000 and start at zero. Use the location control for horizontal spread and the height control for vertical variation. [1]
Adjust the car start separately
Vehicle Location Modifier varies the car’s starting position, while Vehicle Rotation Modifier varies its starting direction. These controls are independent of ball placement. For a grounded start, keep Spawn Vehicle on Ground enabled; switching it off restores the older behaviour of starting slightly above the surface. [1]
Mirror a shot and choose a different drill
Shot Mirroring places the drill on the opposite side of the arena. Shuffle changes the order of shots, while Next, Previous and Select Shot let you move to a particular attempt. Mirroring a drill and changing its randomization are different operations; you can use the shot controls when your immediate goal is practising the other side. [2]
Steps
- Inside the pack, open Settings, Controls, then View/Change Bindings. Psyonix places these training inputs near the bottom, below the Knockout controls. Check your bindings there instead of assuming a default shortcut still matches a customized control scheme. [2]
Reset completion progress when you want a fresh run
Training pack progress is saved with game data, and shots can be completed in any order. To start the completion record over, choose Reset Progress from the pack’s pause menu. End Training instead opens a screen where you can return to the pack, change the pack or mode, or leave for the main menu. [2]
