Red Dead Online: How to Start Strange Tales of the West

Collect the letter that introduces the missions

Strange Tales of the West is a set of four Telegram Missions for Red Dead Online. Theodore Levin is investigating unusual reports for an anthology, and his letter provides the route into those stories. These are Online missions, so use the Online character whose Telegram Missions you want to play. [1]

Steps

1. Pick up Mr. Levin’s letter from any Post Office or from your Camp Lockbox. [1]
2. Open the letter from your Satchel, or launch Telegram Missions from the Player Menu. The announcement documents both routes. [1]

Choose the investigation you want to play

The Plague follows reports of infected people in Armadillo; Modern Science investigates artificial life at Braithwaite Manor. The Bayou takes you into the Lagras swamps, while The Wilderness follows a missing scientist in Tall Trees and includes finding weapons, crafting and hunting for food. Those descriptions help distinguish the four missions without requiring an unverified unlock sequence. [1]

Check bonus dates separately from mission access

The July 2025 announcement also advertised a reward multiplier ending August 4. That dated promotion is separate from the mission-start instructions above; this guide does not count it as a current payout bonus. [1]
