Raft Known Issues, Workarounds and Fixes

Redbeet-documented checks for a stationary raft, distorted resolution, overridden display settings and restoring a world backup with its progress limits.

Documented workaround

Menus inaccessible because of distorted resolution

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

Redbeet documents launch commands to force the resolution or window mode when menus cannot be reached because the image is distorted. This workaround targets the display setup, not every startup crash. [2]

Documented steps

  1. For the support page’s low-resolution windowed example, put -width800-height600-fullscreen3 in Raft’s Steam Launch Options and relaunch. [2]

Limits & applicability

  • Launch commands override the matching in-game display settings. Remove those launch options and restart before expecting changes made in the graphics menu to take effect. [2]
Documented workaround

Raft stopped moving after loading the world

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

The support instructions distinguish a raft that stops on loading from one unable to sail because of wind or an anchor. For the loading-triggered case, Redbeet recommends a world reload. [1]

Documented steps

  1. Exit to the menu and reload the world, then check whether movement resumes. [1]
Documented workaround

Raft still does not move after a reload

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

For continued movement trouble, support asks players to check sail direction against the wind. A Streamer indicates wind direction; the sail needs the wind blowing into its back. [1]

Documented steps

  1. Raise any dropped anchors before testing movement. [1]
  2. If it still does not move, the support page suggests picking up and replacing the sail. [1]
Documented workaround

Restore a damaged world from an earlier backup

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

Raft’s save system provides earlier world backups for a damaged world. Restoring one deliberately rolls back the world state; choose the saved point with its progress loss in mind. [3]

Documented steps

  1. Open Load World and select the affected world. [3]
  2. Open World Backups, choose an earlier save and select Load World. [3]

Limits & applicability

  • The backup restores the world/raft, not the earlier inventory, health, hunger or thirst. Progress made in the world between the chosen save and the current state is lost. [3]
