Skeo is a destination after completing a planet
Skeo is the moon added in the free v2.102 update. It is a travel destination reached from an existing playthrough, rather than a moon you select as a fresh starting planet. The distinction matters if you are searching the new-game screen for its name. [1]
Fully terraform the starting planet first. The Skeo announcement lists Prime, Toxicity, Humble and Selenea as eligible starting worlds; arriving at an earlier terraforming stage does not meet the stated completion requirement. [1]
Steps
- Continue the current world until its terraforming is complete before preparing travel to Skeo. [1]
Build the correct travel infrastructure
Several rockets can use the departure platform. For travel between planets, select the Interplanetary Travel Rocket rather than assuming another rocket launch will take your character to a moon. [2]
Steps
- Build the Extraction Platform and the Interplanetary Travel Rocket after finishing the starting planet. [1]
- Build the travel rocket on that platform. The earlier Moons Update FAQ describes this platform-and-rocket combination as the way to leave for another moon. [2]
- Select Skeo as the travel destination once the required rocket is ready. [1]
Limits & applicability
- The Moons Update FAQ notes that an already-built platform may need its existing rocket deconstructed. Check the rocket occupying the platform before rebuilding your base or abandoning the save. [2]
What travels with the character
Interplanetary travel keeps the character’s inventory, equipment and known blueprints. You do not restart research from an empty character simply because the terrain, resources and unlocks on the destination differ. [2]
Prepare for the return journey as well: the travel-system announcement says another travel rocket is needed to come back. Reaching Skeo and having a return rocket are separate tasks. [2]
Steps
- Make building the destination’s return travel rocket part of the expedition plan, rather than expecting the original platform to appear automatically on Skeo. [2]
Travel together and keep earlier operations running
Co-op players occupy the same planet or moon at a time. One player cannot remain on Prime while another explores Skeo in that shared session. Coordinate the departure before treating a shared move as a multiplayer error. [2]
Existing planets continue terraforming, drone work, ore extraction and auto-crafting while the group travels. The travel system therefore supports continuing earlier operations while you establish a new moon base. [2]
Limits & applicability
- Separate Prime and Humble playthroughs cannot be merged through this travel system. Choose the save you intend to continue; travel within that save does not combine two independently started worlds. [2]
Recognise destination-specific research
The Skeo update includes destination-specific unlocks, including Incubator T2 and the Magnetar-quartz recipe. Carrying known blueprints does not imply every new moon recipe was already researched before arrival. [1]
Limits & applicability
- If a co-op trip fails after updating, compare the installed versions across the group. The developer asks everyone to use the same version and to update or remove incompatible mods. [3]

Platform and version details belong to the individual issue or guide section. A documented workaround may not resolve every case.
