Use suspension for a break during a junction
Suspend Run lets you step away during a trip and return to where you stopped. It was added in Endless Expeditions to make the existing save structure more flexible. You do not need to finish the current junction solely to end a play session. [1]
The relevant distinction is progress inside the junction. Suspension keeps that progress, instead of relying only on the state recorded on entry to the area. [2]
Suspend the current trip when you need to stop
The developer describes the flow as exiting while suspending progress for the next session. Use the in-game suspension flow rather than interpreting the feature as a promise that a force-closed or crashed process saves at the exact moment it stops. [2]
Steps
Check the restored trip state
The documented resumed state includes your current inventory and junction progress. It is intended to continue the trip you suspended, rather than create a different route or refresh the inventory. [2]
If Rites embark requirements reappear after resuming, version 1.15.0 has a specific fix for that bug. A suspended-run problem should be checked against the installed build and its exact symptom. [3]
Keep garage saves and transition autosaving separate
Garage manual saves and junction-entry saves are the older save points that suspension supplements. A mid-junction suspension has a different purpose from returning to an earlier garage point. [2]
Transition autosaving can be turned off in gameplay settings. If you choose to manage saves yourself, remember that setting when expecting a new transition save; suspension does not mean every save option is always enabled. [2]
Distinguish a resume-related music bug from lost progress
Version 1.15.0 also fixes expansion and gateway-exit music disappearing after a suspended run loads. Missing music is the symptom of that specific fix, not proof that the restored inventory or junction progress is missing. [3]
