Check the event and character requirements

The September 2026 Monoliths of Madness launch article describes a 12-week event for level-20 characters. Its activities rotate among Menzoberranzan, Northdark Reaches, Narbondellyn and Dragonbone Vale. Follow the active event in-game; the instructions apply while that event is available rather than promising permanent event access. [1]

Steps

  1. Go to Protector’s Enclave and speak with Master Arcanist Viorel Amakiir to start the Monoliths of Madness Campaign. [1]
  2. Travel to the active zone shown by its modified map icon. Players are downscaled in an active zone, so the changed scaling is part of the event rules. [1]

Complete the correct zone introduction if access is missing

For Menzoberranzan, Sergeant Knox’s prerequisites are Whispers in the Dark and A New Ally. Northdark Reaches uses The Call of the King. Narbondellyn uses Whispers in the Dark and A Discreet Meeting, while Dragonbone Vale uses Forging the Shield. These are zone-specific access requirements, so use the pair or quest associated with the map currently active. [1]

Earn campaign progress and check reward eligibility

Daily and weekly challenges contribute to the campaign’s personal and global progress. Zone quests award Shards of Madness, and the publisher requires at least 500 shards to be eligible for global rewards granted by progressing through the Nightmare. Entering the event alone is therefore not the entire global-reward requirement. [1]
