Monster Hunter: World: How to Use Keyboard Item Shortcuts and Loadouts

Choose keyboard item bars, use F1–F4 and number keys, and understand which loadout saves shortcuts.

Choose the keyboard shortcut style

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

World’s PC Steam version offers Keyboard and Gamepad styles through Options, Radial Menu Type. Capcom identifies Keyboard as the default style: it maps items and tools to bars rather than the gamepad radial selection flow. Select the style you intend to use before choosing the appropriate preset for a quest. [1]

Steps

  1. Open Options, then Radial Menu Type, and select Keyboard for keyboard-style item bars. [1]
  2. Press F1 through F4 to select an item menu, then use number keys 1 through 9 for its items. [1]

Keep shortcut presets with Item Loadouts

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Item Loadouts include inventory organization and shortcut assignments. Equipment or Gear Loadouts cover weapons, armor, charms, specialized tools and decorations instead; they are not associated with the item shortcut menu. Use this distinction when deciding which existing preset to load. [1]

Steps

  1. Before starting the quest, check the item-menu preset. Remember that loading an Item Loadout replaces shortcuts with the assignments saved in that loadout. [1]
